“Something bad has happened in Paris”.

Those were my first words to Matte when he woke up yesterday.

The next hours we spent watching the news. Australian news covered what had happened thoroughly.

Soon we started to hear how Sydney Opera House would be light up in the colours of France, and how people were arranging an event to happen at Martin Place in the city center.

Matte had to leave for work, but I decided to pay a visit to the center. In the pouring rain I walked through Martin Place, where people were lighting candles, standing in silence or singing the Marseillaise.

From there I continued to the Sydney Opera House. There were a lot of people just standing in silence and waiting for the French flag to appear.

And there it was. An act of support.

I have never heard so much French spoken in Sydney before.

Hoping for a better tomorrow.
